Selling is the process of converting a pre-interested, pre-motivated, pre-qualified prospect into a buyer.
Marketing is about getting the attention of that person in the first place. Then using your message to filter those who will be pre-interested, pre-motivated & pre-qualified.
The most valuable of these is marketing because if you have a steady stream of prospects coming towards your conversion (sales) process, you can afford to scale up the sales as there will be more prospects coming along the next day and so forth.
